VIENNA, October 3, 2011
22th Meeting of Working-Group of Senior Officials and 21stConference of Heads of Government (ARGE Donauländer) were held on 3 October 2011 at Vienna’s City Hall. At the conference, participants discussed the Working Community’s future key activities in connection with the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) and adopted a joint declaration on the EUSDR. Simultaneously, the biennially rotating chair was officially handed over from the Province of Vienna to the Province of Lower Austria, which will assume this role at the beginning of next year.
In his welcome remarks, Vienna’s Mayor Michael Häupl referred to the EUSDR, whose four pillars – Connecting the Danube Region, Protecting the Environment, Building Prosperity and Strengthening the Danube Region – are intended to create perceptible value added to the whole Danube region. From the City of Vienna’s point of view, Priority Area 10, “To Step up Institutional Capacity and Cooperation”, which is coordinated jointly by Vienna and Slovenia, forms an integral part of the strategy.
