Every two years, the CoR holds a European Summit of Regions and Cities. These summits bring elected representatives from regional and local authorities together to discuss the main challenges facing the European Union.
The Summit was organized by the European Committee of the Regions and co-hosted by the Bratislava Self-Governing Region and the City of Bratislava, in cooperation with the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the EU.
Gathering over 700 participants and opened to all CoR members, this major event coincided with the start of the Slovakian EU Presidency which began on 1 July.
Under the title ‘Invest and Connect’, EU leaders and representatives from both the public and private sector considered how to strengthen connections between Europe’s people, places, ideas and resources through investment. A number of side events, such as concerts and public debates, are also planned over the two days.
