Teaming up with local coffee shops in Bucharest, we managed to offer 50% discount on all products for young people, aged between 18 and 35 years old, that would have voted on December 11th, for the Romanian legislative elections. We convinced 7 coffee shops that have together more than 20 locations that attracted more than 500 youngsters.
During the Romanian legislative election campaign, the Danube Youth Alliance focused on raising an important topic in the public arena : women participation in politics. Being a country where women are chronically underrepresented, Romania faces an important social challenge towards gender equality. In the context of the public donation gathering for one of Constantin’s Brancusi masterpiece, the Alliance has organized a non-formal event, a treasure hunt meant to promote the discovery of Bucharest’s cultural landmarks. The funds that were gathered, were given as donation for the acquirement of the masterpiece.
We hosted a debate in collaboration with the League of Romania Students Abroad about the Romanian Youth in the European Context. The youth voiced their concerns about the place of their country within the European Union while admitting the numerous benefits that the youth have acquired after the entrance in the EU.
While entertaining a strong relationship with the local bussiness community, we created an internship platform that can be accesed at internship.danubeyouth.to and we managed to offer more than 60 internship throughout the year.
We also promoted an climate of dialogue and organized several meetings with high government officials on topics such as Digital Romania or Tourism and Entrepreneurship.

At the end of the year, we also organized a meeting with one of the most respected lawyers in Romania, Ernest Popovici, who shared his vast work experience with more than 50 law students.
2016 marked the launch of the Romanian President’s Program « Educated Romania ». Throughout the year, several debates have been organized aiming to build a public consensus over the priorities in education. The Alliance was a strong dialogue partner and participated frequently at the debates voicing its opinion.
