Danube Days Along the River Danube Stakeholders Celebrate Year One of the Strategy

BUCHAREST, June 29, 2012

The Key Stakeholders High Level Meeting Competitiveness and Innovation for Jobs and Economic Recovery in the Danube Region took place jointly at the Romanian Academy and Haus der Donau / Ghica Palace in Bucharest, on June 28-29, 2012, and addressed the main actors involved in the implementation process of the Strategy. The event was meant to promote innovation as the key element to reinforce European competitiveness and set its economic growth, to create jobs and improve the life standards of the citizens.

As a Forum for Cooperation with a multi-stakeholder approach–government ministries, European Commission, intergovernmental organizations, NGOs, academic and financial institutions, local and regional networks, etc – theDanube Alliance is celebrating one year of action since the endorsement of the EU strategy for the Danube Region by the European Council in June 2011.

The current state of play translates into the establishment of a valuable cooperation platform at macro-regional level whose efficiency has already been proved in relation to research opportunities and innovative approaches: innovation at all levels – products, services and business models, combined with institutional capacity building.
