The 5th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region – Bratislava-Slovakia, 3-4 November 2016

In the framework of the Presidency of Slovakia in the Danube macro-regional strategy, the Government Office of the Slovak republic organized, in cooperation with the European Commission, a frontline event of the Strategy entitled „Innovative Flows – Water, Knowledge and Innovation in the Danube Region“.

The Annual Forum was officially opened by the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, the Vice-President of the European Commission for Energy Union, Maroš Šefčovič and the European Commissioner for Education, Youth and Sport and the Joint Research Centre (JRC), Tibor Navracsic. Ministers and their representatives from the Danube countries, representatives of the European Commission, International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR), as well as mayors, Danube Strategy National coordinators, experts and participants from the Danube countries took part as well.

 The main topics of the Annual Forum were the thematic priorities of the Slovak Presidency in the Danube Strategy – development of Knowledge society and Water management in the Danube region. The Annual Forum aimed also at taking a closer look at how to transform political commitment in concrete operational policies and measures.

In the frame of the 5th Annual Forum of the EUSDR, Slovakia handed over the Presidency in the Danube Strategy to Hungary.
