European Maritime Day 2012 Romania
On the occasion of the European Maritime Day 2012, EUROLINK has organized the High Level Stakeholder Forum “The Strategic Confluence between Black Sea and Danube – the gate towards new innovative investment opportunities”. The event took place, on May 17, 2012 (12.30h-17.00h), at the Parliament Palace, with the distinguished participation of Ambassador Liviu Bota, H.E. the Serbian Ambassador to Bucharest, Mr. Zoran Popovic, MEP Petru Luhan, the Romanian National Coordinator for EUSDR, Ambassador Lucian Fatu, dr. Ionut Purica from the Romanian Academy and Mr. Octavian Serban from the Brussels School of International Studies, University of Kent. The High Level Forum has gathered the main stakeholders from the business, academic and NGO sectors, representatives of EU institutions and of Romanian central public authorities.
European Maritime Day in the European Union
The European Maritime Day is celebrated annually across Europe on 20 May. It shows the importance of the sea and oceans for everyday life, both in coastal communities and in landlocked areas across Europe. It also highlights the opportunities and challenges currently facing maritime regions and sectors.
The Maritime Day was officially launched on 20 May 2008 in Strasbourg, where the leaders of the European Union signed a Joint Tripartite Declaration establishing it.
