Budapest aims to play a paramount role in the shaping Danube Region – providing a bridge and a gateway role in Central and Eastern Europe. The Hungarian capital has been aspiring for a long time that the Danube as the Main Street of Europe should forge an economic, cultural and political unit in the countries on the river.
